For our fourth anniversary, Wife and I took a mini vacation north to Cardiff by the Sea. With the buying power of Groupon, we had a night at the Cardiff by the Sea Lodge. While the Tiki Room at first seem tacky, we grew to enjoy it and the ample amount of space it provided (along with TruTV). Additionally, the rooftop fire pit made watching the sunset an enjoyable and warm experience.
Sadly, dinner turned out to be a dissapointment, but the rest of the mini vacation went well. The next day we walked along the beach, purchased a new suit (my old suit is at least 6 years old and sadly I have filled out a bit), enjoyed some pizza at Pizza Port (@pizzaportbeer) in Carlsbad (while delicious, not really helping with the filling out bit), and read by the water.
That evening, we watched the San Diego Sockers (@sdsockersteam) decimate the Cincinnati Kings (@Kings_Soccer) 10-4. The excitement of the game was a great way to end a relaxing few days.
I have enjoyed the past four years with the love of my life and look forward to the next 50 or so!
For the 4th of July, Wife and I began at the Lezack’s new place. After fixing their PS3-HDMI-Television problem (I know, I am a nerd), we played a new game called washers. Michelle (@mlezack) and I beat Jen (@beachJen81) and Dan with a score of 21 to something. After then watching a few more rounds, Wife and I headed north to visit Tom and his new apartment on the what I am calling Tom’s Harbor (it is more of a cove, but I like harbor better).
After finding a great parking space (close to Tom’s), we enjoyed the view from the balcony, a delicious crock pot dinner, hanging on the dock, and then some fireworks. While we did not see much of the official fireworks, the neighbors definitely made sure we saw some sparkles.
I have to give it to both our host, they have great party locations. The Lezacks have a wonderful backyard with a pool (unfortunately too cold this 4th) and jacuzzi, while Tom has a very vibrant spot on the water with a dock and some friendly neighbors. Looking forward to the Labor Day Party!
You have to love the fact that in the United States of America people are always looking for a new holiday to eat and drink with friends. However, only on the Fourth of July can a person do those two and add in some fireworks.
So to honor those who decided the British had to go, Wife and I invited some friends over to my parents house (because they have a bigger backyard, okay, a huge backyard) for some BBQ and fun. One (for anonymity sake) of our guests was gracious enough to bring us some sparklers and some bigger fire spewing toys. While enjoying the lights and sounds we made sure not to burn down the house and left at the end of the evening successful.
Afterward our own little show (as you can see in the video above), we headed to Balboa Park to watch the professionals light off some fireworks. Then we drove back to the parents house for some dominoes and finally the bike ride back to our place.
